Predawn game drives to find that pride of lions…. sundowners set against the backdrop of an African sunset…. curling up under a blanket to watch the stars. There are few destinations that match the romance of Africa!
Whether you are looking for a honeymoon, a couple’s getaway or a place to pop the question you’ll find it in Africa. And you don’t have to be newlyweds for Africa to work its magic, this is the perfect backdrop to reignite the flame.
This trip is about the two of you. You’ve left the kids at grandma’s, and now you just need to escape the crowds. Lucky the savanna is vast, and there’s a special place waiting just for the two of you. We’ve sought out some hidden-gem lodges specifically for this purpose. A private safari will allow you to go on bush explorations without fellow travellers in tow.
Canvas tents, and late nights by the campfire, make this feel like a scene from Out of Africa. These are no ordinary tents, kitted out in style your rustic bush experience will come with all the modern amenities. You might think your lover is wooing you, but Africa is pulling out all the stops as well….
Africa offers the picturesque honeymoon and safariFRANK knows just where to take you. On the Classic African Honeymoon Safari, you’ll be exploring Cape Town’s winelands followed by seeing the BIG 5 in Sabi Sands and Victoria Falls in Zambia. From winelands, to beaches, to the bush you’ll be experiencing an intimate and luxury Africa. A romantic dinner for two on the Zambezi river can be arranged. This trip is the tasting menu for Africa.
If it’s your shared loved of wildlife you’d like to celebrate, then the Romantic Tanzania Honeymoon Safari is the way to go. The handpicked lodges are some of the most luxurious and intimate Tanzania has to offer and the mobile camp gives you front seat viewing to the wildebeest migration. The final stretch of the journey lands you on the sandy white beaches of a private island – where sunset cocktails and barefoot strolls down the beach await!
The Luxury Kenyan Bush and Beach Honeymoon is the ‘go big or go home’ adventure. A private plane, a hot air balloon ride, a sky bed under the night sky…this is the stuff of fairy tales. The final destination of the trip, the Alfajiri Villa, offers you your own private swimming pool and a butler at your beck and call….

Our Favourite Honeymoon & Romantic Safaris!
Luxury tented camps, horseback riding in the open air, a personal guide catering to your every whim, it’s easy for time to stand still in Africa! African days are guided by the suns track across the sky, and sightings ticked off your list. A productive day in the wild of Africa guarantees stories to tell around the cosy campfire.
The romance of Africa has long been documented in the journals of explorers and expats. Karen Blixen, Danish author best known for Out of Africa, her account of living in Kenya, said ‘You know you are truly alive when you’re living among lions’. The call of the jackals at night, coupled by the humming of the cicada, and punctuated by the roar of a lion, makes you sit up in bed, both comforted by the canvas walls and struck by the urge to peer into the darkness outside.
It’s the unplanned happenings that make the unforgettable memories. The sandstorm in the desert, the hyena who stole the hiking boot that was left outside, and the rhino you spotted whose whereabouts are now sworn to secrecy to protect him. These are the stories you’ll tell your children one day. Whether you are in desperate need of a change of scenery, looking for a place to pop the question or going on your honeymoon, Africa always delivers.
For some couple’s adventure calls, and a laid-back holiday just isn’t going to do the trick. Forget the couple’s massages, you’ve got the wilds to explore. For the intrepid couple there are endless opportunities to take the road less travelled, even if that means bumping along in a Landy with no one else in sight for miles.

Fantastic Couple Safaris!
Safari Types: Bush & Beach, Luxury, Affordable, or Adventure
A beach holiday offers a choice between quaint beach cottages in the Cape, a private slice of Zanzibar or Mozambique’s vast & stunning coastline. An exclusive stay on the Indian Ocean Islands of Mauritius or the Seychelles are picture book perfect too. Lake Malawi gets an honourable mention with its sandy beaches lined with palm trees. Namibia has a shipwreck lodge on the Skeleton Coast, shrouded in mist, eery might be the word to describe this destination. And if you’re lucky you’ll catch a sighting of the shy brown hyena lolloping through the dunes.
Making your trip wildlife focused can be a particularly rewarding way to plan. The Masai Mara is the best place to seek out the big cats, while Uganda and Rwanda are home to chimpanzees and gorillas. Not to forget the BIG 5, which our guides have a knack for finding. We have designed a set of affordable getaways, allowing you to safari on a budget if need be. Doing away with the frills by no means limits your experience and access to the bush, and you can still expect to have sightings to write home about. In Botswana the mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe, silently glides through the water, as to not disturb the animals at the water’s edge.
If you’ve got the latest hiking boots on order through Amazon Prime, and your moto is ‘all terrain’, you’re going to need a safari that pushes the envelope. If it’s a trek you’re after we’ve got a few stellar peaks to offer from the Drakensberg in South Africa, to Mount Kenya. And if that’s not high enough, Mount Kilimanjaro, known as the roof of Africa, is waiting. Encounter a Black Rhino on foot, track desert adapted elephants on horseback, and climb Margherita Peak, all on your safari less ordinary. Self-driving and camping in Namibia and Botswana is also a great option for intrepid couples.
Swap the boots for stilettos. Perhaps you came for the fine wining and dining, while most safari lodge chefs can impress, the highest quality cuisine is to be found in Cape Town, we even encourage you to book weeks in advance!
How long to go and budget?
Deciding on a budget is a good start to planning your trip. Once you’ve calculated a budget, and decided what wild creature is top of your safari bucket list, you’re ready to start planning your trip.
A group safari will be less expensive than a tailor-made safari. If wildlife sightings are what is important to you, then a longer less expensive trip will be more rewarding. Traveling during the low season and sticking to a single reserve safari are both ways to save the bank, as are the fantastic specials on offer from our partners.
If money is no object, then there is no limit to luxury or access to incredible experiences. Think crystal clear water and beach as you step out of your chalet, with the call of habituated chimpanzees from the dense forest behind you – these places exist if you know where to look. If you have an extended time to travel then visiting a number of wildlife areas will boost your chance of unique sightings, with each having something else to offer.
