detailed itinerary

Tafika Camp is situated on the banks of the Luangwa River, North of the Nsefu Sector of South Luangwa National Park. Nestled in the shade of giant leadwood trees, the camp has a panorama of the river and its wildlife. Tafika can accommodate up to 14 guests in six thatched chalets (including a family chalet and honeymoon suite) with open-air en suite facilities, built around the trunks of stunning sausage trees. The food is excellent and is supplemented by a wonderful supply of home-grown fresh salad, fruit and vegetables.

Tafika is the perfect tranquil base from which guests can enjoy walking safaris, cultural visits, microlight flights (May only), unique cycling trails and game drives (day and night), during which the abundance of diverse game populations in the Nsefu sector ensure an unforgettable African safari.

Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp are the two intimate and exclusive bush camps which form Chikoko Trails, where authentic walking safaris are offered within a remote northern area of the South Luangwa National Park. This is an excellent option for guests who enjoy a more active safari experience and an escape from the conventional game drive routine. One get lost in the idyll of Africa on foot and the minutiae of the bush come to the fore; the smells, the essence of the macro world and the sense of timelessness with added adrenaline as you also track (and often find) big game on foot.

Each camp accommodates a maximum of six people in thatched chalets with open-air en suite facilities, nestled in the shade of majestic ebony trees. Rooms have flush toilets, showers (with hot water provided on demand) and running (cold) water throughout the day. The camps are staffed by an experienced walking guide, an armed game scout, a chef and general camp staff, who contribute to a relaxed and pleasurable stay at our Chikoko Trails Camps.

Tusk & Mane is a lovingly owner operated safari operation and offer a back-to-nature wilderness experience. Game drives and fishing are readily available and completely flexible although they concentrate primarily on walking safaris and canoe safaris.

Kutali Island and Chula Island are tucked away on remote Islands in the prime game viewing area near Jeki airfield. The camps are simple with old style luxury camping, under the stars and around the campfire providing all the luxurious one could ask for.

Fly camping is to experience the African wilderness with as much freedom as possible, following the finest line drawn between a completely wild eco-system and ourselves. These safaris offer a chance to experience the best of the Lower Zambezi from the river to the escarpment. Having no more than 10 guests at any stage ensures an intimate safari experience.
