Uis Guesthouse

Uis Guesthouse is situated in the heart of Uis – the old mining settlement, a mere 30min drive away from the famous Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain.

Uis Guesthouse is brand new and offers 4 standard and 5 luxury rooms, as well as 3 double-storey suites, for guests wanting to indulge in a comfortable stay-over close to Brandberg. All of the rooms are en-suite and equipped with twin beds, dressing table, air conditioning, and mosquito nets. Their interior design boasts of a rustic farmers flair with a modern and clean touch, combining stylish luxury and elegant cuisine.

Uis Guesthouse is a bed & breakfast, offering more than usual by providing guests with a delicious breakfast buffet, dinner (on request, they serve homemade African cuisine) and facilities ranging from laundry services to “anything else that guests might ask for”. This includes a free airstrip shuttle service and wheelchair-friendly accommodation.

The Guesthouse and its surroundings invite you to explore the beautiful nature of Damaraland and the majestic Brandberg. They offer full-day Brandberg excursions, sundowner and elephant drives, sleep-outs, and for the more active traveller e-fat biking and excursions all the way up to Königstein, the summit of Brandberg, the highest mountain in Namibia.

The 4 standard rooms are situated around the main house. They are all en-suite (shower, washbasin, toilet) and all rooms are equipped with twin beds, dressing table, air conditioning, and mosquito nets.

The 5 luxury rooms are more spacious than the standard rooms with the option of putting in an extra bed. They are all en-suite (shower, washbasin, toilet) and again all rooms are equipped with twin beds, dressing table, lounge chair, air conditioning, and mosquito nets.

The 3 suites are double storey with a built-in wooden deck as the bedroom and lounge area and bathroom at the ground level. They are all en-suite and equipped with twin beds, dressing table, air conditioning, and mosquito nets. The lounge area consists of a sleeper couch and lounge chairs, a TV (satellite/cable), a fridge and a tea & coffee station. NB: The suites are not wheel-chair friendly.

The Guesthouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, all elegant cuisine and the chef and kitchen staff work around the clock to provide you with delicious meals.

Activities on offer at Uis Guesthouse are:

• FULL DAY BRANDBERG EXCURSION: After an early breakfast, you set out cross-country through dry riverbeds due west towards the Brandberg mountain. Explore parts of the Ugab River in search of the desert adapted elephants and go for a quick swim in one of the permanent pools on the foot of the mountain incudes picnic lunch, water, and soft drinks.
• SUNDOWNER DRIVE: Depart on a scenic nature drive in a 4×4 safari vehicle to a beautiful sunset spot. Here you relax and enjoy the breath-taking views, some drinks, and snacks for sunset includes sundowner drinks and snacks.
• ELEPHANT DRIVE: Morning or afternoon for a 2-3 hours game drive departing from the guesthouse towards the Brandberg mountain. Explore the sandy riverbed in search of the elusive desert-adapted elephants.
• E-FATBIKING: A 2-3 hour guided e-fat bike trip departing from the guesthouse towards the Brandberg. Explore the area close up, riding fat-bikes on jeep tracks, single tracks and cycling through riverbeds surrounding the Brandberg mountain.
• BRANDBERG HIKING: The Brandberg hiking experiences are strictly subject to availability and need to be booked at least 4 weeks prior to arrival. It is advisable to book the first night at Uis Guesthouse for introduction, preparations and for the big hike. The package is only available to a group of min 4 pax and includes the following: 2 guides/all necessary permits/backpack and sleeping equipment/food and water. The terrain requires proper footwear, some balance and hard work, the Brandberg is no easy climb and is taxing on the legs and body.
• SLEEP OUT: Accommodation for guests doing the sleepout is provided in modern dome style tents with comfortable beds consisting of a stretcher, a fully made up bedroll, and a pillow. Ablutions are provided and ensure privacy as well as comfort in the wildest of locations.
