Located on the western edge of the ancient fossil pan, Nxai Pan is the only permanent camp in the Nxai Pan National Park. During summer, visitors can witness the second-largest land animal migration in Southern Africa, as thousands of zebras inhabit the open grasslands.

This game-rich pan is known for its exceptional zebra and springbok population, while wildebeest, elephants, and giraffes, make for exciting daily activities for the whole family.

Experience & Activities

Activities at Nxai Pan Camp include daily game drives, nature walks, bird watching and star gazing. While here, don’t miss the chance to spot nocturnal animals on a night game drive, or embark on a day trip to the renowned Baines’ Baobabs, where a picnic lunch experience awaits. Another Nxai Pan Camp favourite is the bushman walk, where guests learn how the San used to hunt, gather food and collect water.

Guests can get comfortable in the expansive open-air lounge at camp, order a drink at the bar, relax by the pool, and browse the curio shop for take-home souvenirs.

Accommodations

Nxai Pan accommodates up to eighteen people in nine environmentally designed suites, perfectly placed to offer views of the camp’s permanent waterhole. All suites are built with minimal environmental impact materials and maintain a constant and comfortable in-room temperature year-round.

The rooms include double wash basins and both indoor and outdoor showers. The rooms are spacious with a lounge area, and one contains an additional twin bedroom, ideal for family use. All the units are on raised decks, and their location on the edge of the ridge means that each viewing deck has truly exceptional and captivating views of the wide-open pan and its big beautiful sky. Each has an open verandah that looks onto the waterhole in front of the camp, where elephants are frequent visitors.
