Ease into Luangwa life with a stay at the award-winning Mfuwe Lodge. Set inside the park, just five minutes’ drive from the main gate, the lodge’s allure is instantly obvious.

Beneath a canopy of ebony and mahogany, Mfuwe lodges eighteen air-conditioned chalets are arranged around the banks of two lagoons where an endless stream of wildlife keeps guests enthralled while lounging on the open deck or taking a dip in the swimming pool. The airy interior of the lodge is an exquisite complement to its natural surroundings.

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.

Whether staying overnight, or just having lunch en route to a Bushcamp, Mfuwe Lodge’s relaxed charm and enviable surroundings make it the perfect stopover. Mfuwe Lodge also offers the chance to relax at its Bush-Spa or to buy a few Zambia mementos at their curio shop.

Experience & Activities

The game viewing potential at Mfuwe Lodge and the surrounding area is second-to-none. Walking safaris can be arranged on request, but the majority of outings are game drives, allowing guests to explore as much of this prolific region of the Luangwa Valley as possible. Drives are led by the experienced team of guides, setting out at first light, and then again in the late afternoon when the wildlife is at its most active. After sundowners, spotlights are used to pick out a new cast of nocturnal creatures.

Discover the true meaning of relaxation at Mfuwe Lodge’s Bush Spa, a calm sanctuary in the heart of the Zambian wilderness, perfect for anyone seeking rejuvenation of mind, body and soul while on safari. The award-winning Bush Spa offers a contemporary range of eastern and western treatments, each one adapted to suit the surroundings and leave guests feeling revitalized. From the Spa’s private deck, guests can continue game-viewing in style while sinking into a heavenly herbal Jacuzzi or enjoying a Zambian reflexology foot massage.

  • Chalet: Eighteen thatched chalets scattered along two lagoons’ shady banks include secluded covered verandas, large comfortable beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning, a relaxed sitting area, and en-suite bathrooms with panoramic walk-in showers.
  • Directors House: Tucked away in a secluded area on the grounds of Mfuwe Lodge is a spacious private interconnecting two-bedroom, two-bathroom thatched villa with a fenced garden, covered dining deck, swimming pool, fire pit, BBQ and pizza oven – perfect for a family or guests who would like their own private space. It is in close proximity and within walking distance to the main Mfuwe Lodge, allowing easy access to their facilities.
