Lilayi Lodge

The Lilayi Elephant Nursery, located at the entrance to game farm, is a project that is very dear to the family’s heart. Having a long history in supporting wildlife conservation, two hectares of land was donated to Game Rangers International – a non-profit organisation. Through this partnership Lilayi Game Farm has become home to a number of orphaned elephants that have seen the loss of their families due to poaching.

Lilayi Lodge is located on the outskirts of Lusaka on a 650-hectare farm, providing guests with that feeling of being deep in the heart of the African bush. The Lodge is designed to accommodate 28 guests in 10 deluxe chalets and 2 family chalets and is perfectly suited for guests traveling in and out of Lusaka.

Make yourself at home and experience true relaxation in the lodge bar & lounge area. If you are a fan of coffee, then allow the baristas to cater to your taste with a selection of Zambian coffee. The extensive drinks and cocktail lists are sure to thrill every guest. Relax by the pool in the afternoons for a sundowner and wait for the wildlife of the game park to stroll in for their afternoon graze on the open lawn. A truly magnificent safari experience.

The dining area is the theater where the chef showcases culinary delights, ranging from 7 course food and wine pairings to sundowners on the restaurant deck. Enjoy true Zambian hospitality whilst surrounded by the beautiful wildlife of the Lilayi Game Park.

Experience & Activities

Lilayi Lodge is nestled amongst 650 hectares of unspoiled grassland that is home to over 25 different species of mammals and over 300 different species of birds. Any visit to the lodge would not be complete without a game drive lead by one of the extremely knowledgeable guides who have over 20 years of experience introducing guests to the resident giraffe, roan antelope, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, and tsessebe, as well as many others which call the park home. Enjoy the Lilayi sunset amongst the animals with a glass of wine or cold drink whilst on a late afternoon game drive.

Lilay has pristine 2.5km, 5.5km, and 10km walking trails that wind through the picturesque 650-hectare game reserve. It is the perfect place if you are in need a bit of fresh air and a place for exercise amongst the 25 species of animals. Our trails are free to use and maps are available at the reception desk.

Lilayi Elephant Nursery

Human-animal conflict is an increasing threat to the African Elephant population. Baby elephants are often the victims of these conflicts and find themselves without a family. Through partnership with Game Rangers International, a non-profit conservation organisation, Lilayi Lodge is giving them a home and a family at the Lilayi Elephant Nursery with the hope of re-introducing them to the wild. This is all achieved with the ongoing support from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife.

As an in-house guest of Lilayi Lodge you have the unique opportunity to go Behind The Scenes “BTS” and get a first hand look at the project as well as contribute to the conservation efforts by assisting the elephant keepers in caring for these baby Elephants. The charge for this unique experience goes 100% towards the project and wildlife conservation in Zambia.

Accommodations

• Deluxe Chalet: Experience luxury nestled inside a game park as wildlife graze right outside your veranda. The deluxe chalets sleep two people comfortably. Each unit consists of an open plan, en suite bedroom with a tastefully furnished lounge. The bathrooms boast Victoria Albert Volcanic Limestone soaker baths and spacious showers, while the room’s folding bay windows open up to a wooden deck and verandah. Amenities include LED satellite television, wireless Internet connection, bar fridge, and coffee/tea station.
• Family Chalet: Lilayi Lodge is perfectly suited for your family safari. The family chalets consist of two double bedrooms, each en suite, and can comfortably accommodate a family of 4 people, namely 2 adults and 2 children. Each chalet has a furnished lounge, allowing for relaxation after family meals and activities. Amenities include LED satellite television, wireless Internet connection, bar fridge and coffee/tea station.
