Kicheche Mara Camp is a rustic bush camp with that real safari feel to it! The tents are spread-out and with the Camp being unfenced along the Olare Olok creek, animals are often found in Camp…overall a top-notch experience!

KMC tents setting 2

Kicheche Mara Camp is located in the Acacia Valley in the 300 square km Mara North Conservancy and along the Olare Olok creek. The location in the valley feels like you are ‘tugged away’ from the surrounding plains of the Mara and indeed game often wonder through Camp! Game viewing is in open vehicles with only 4 guests per vehicle (vehicles for 6 guests available on request) and is excellent in this prime game viewing area. The Camp employs silver level qualified guides ensuring a high-quality guiding experience.

With only 8 tents an intimate and relaxed atmosphere is assured. All tents are overlooking the Olare Orok stream and the western escarpment of the valley. Triple and quad family tents (1 double & 2 single beds) are also available. All tents have spacious en-suite bathrooms with running hot and cold water.

The camp prides itself on offering a friendly and intimate stay, with the hosts treating you as welcome guests, not just travel statistics. The camp is hosted by Tony and Raymond and there is a team of attentive staff ensuring personal warmth and attention to any needs during your stay. Meals are taken in the dining tent or in the shade of a large Euclea tree with a beautiful view down the valley.

Guests visiting in the migration season (July to October) and staying for 3 nights or more can do a full day excursion into the National Reserve complete with breakfast and lunch picnics along the way. For the more adventurous a 1-night fly-camping excursion out in the wilderness is a great way to have a 100% authentic under canvas experience. This excursion is with your guide hosting you. Guided bush walks are also offered with walks starting and ending in camp and accompanied by an armed scout.

It is also possible to do a visit to a local village with a combination of tourism, conservation, environmental education and community based micro enterprises. This excursion provides a brief glimpse into the lives of the community and the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Overall the Camp is another of SAFARI FRANK’s favourites and recommended.
