Great Migration Camps draws inspiration from the pioneering safari days of old to recreate an experience that gets you right into the very heart of the incredible bio-diversity that exists there in the Serengeti.

Set against the backdrop of the great wildebeest migration, this completely mobile, self-sufficient and environmentally-friendly camp can travel anywhere in the Serengeti depending on the time of year and the stage and location of the migration, giving you a front row seat to one of Mother Nature’s greatest events. The mobile camp moves location as the wildebeest move, with the ability to move camp in a day. Like the wildebeest they stay in tune with the natural environment, weather conditions and where the herds are gathered.

Great Migration Camp’s mobile camp focuses on the experience of being in the bush and encountering wildlife, especially the migration. First-class guiding with comprehensive knowledge of the terrain, geology, history, geography, environment and birds and wildlife, reliable vehicles & remote and intimate camping spots. Everyday requirements are not left to chance – they have great coffee, comfortable bedding and tasty wholesome food cooked over an open fire – all of which add up to truly unforgettable experiences.

A Bedouin-style stretch tent forms the mess tent and communal dining area and provides shade from the African sun. Side panel shade-netting protects against the elements and prevailing winds. Charging station available. Underneath the shelters are the dining tables and camp chairs, which can be moved around the campfire for sundowners and fireside stories of an evening. Unlimited clean filtered water is available at the mess tent. A fridge with chilled beverages and sodas is available at the mess tent, with a self-service, honesty bar system. The camp operates on solar power and does not use a generator. They avoid single use plastic to the best of their ability and the trash is separated, then re-used, recycled or taken out of the park for disposal.

Sleep under the Serengeti Stars. Great Migration Camps has 5 waterproof durable dome shaped canvas tents, offering double or twin occupancy up to 10 clients. Each tent is high enough to stand upright. There is a front awning, side windows and an internal vent and mosquito netting. Amazingly comfortable warm and durable linen with Masai Shukas. Super thick memory foam mattresses and pillows for a great sleep – better than at home. Towels are provided. Solar lantern provided. Each morning, hot water is brought to your tent for your private wash basin. None of the tents are en-suite. They make use of a bio-chemical toilet – like those on used when hiking the mountain or a boat with pump flush system. It has no smell. The outdoor ablution block, has two gravity-fed shower cubicles for steaming hot showers every evening. BEST shower in the bush.

This truly mobile safari is a moving experience that follows the wildebeest all year round. They move throughout the Serengeti-Masai Mara Eco-system, with more time in Tanzania and the Serengeti National Park. The camp moves regularly to campsites within close range of the wildebeest – guaranteeing migration sightings, amongst other wildlife sightings.
