Located on a secluded concession in the southern region of the Okavango Delta, the camps are situated on a permanent channel, bordering Moremi Game Reserve, south of Chitabe. This concession offers an exciting, game-rich safari experience year-round.

The design of Camp Maru is a deliberate return to the authentic safari camps of days gone by and, with just 6 luxurious tents, it offers one of the most intimate and exclusive safari experiences available in the Delta. The Camp is shaded by a grove of giant Leadwood trees on the edge of an expansive lagoon, filled with grunting hippos and fringed with waving papyrus. This permanent water source attracts many animals and birds, both great and small.

Smuggled away under a cool leadwood and knobthorn forest canopy, all tents enjoy picturesque water views.

Year-round water and land activities produce exceptional game viewing, with elephant, buffalo and wild dog sightings almost a daily occurrence.

Experience & Activities

The camp offers Mokoro, walks, and phenomenal game drives daily. Camp Maru is in an area of the Okavango Delta that has year round water, ensuring quality water and land-based activities 12 months a year.

Why we like it

  • Year-round water and land activities
  • Daily elephant & buffalo sightings and regular sightings of leopard & lion
  • Just 30 minutes from Amber River Camp by gentle Mokoro ride
  • Hippos have their own special spot near Camp Maru called hippo pool
