Bloomestate is a retreat with clean architecture and design, that blends seamlessly with the green gardens and rising foothills of the Langeberg mountains. Relax on the deck by the dam, sunbathe by the pool or gently swing back and forth in a hammock

Bloomestate is a 6,5-acre refuge in the quaint country town of Swellendam, your gateway to South Africa’s Garden Route. It balances a crisp, clean decor and contemporary architecture with wide open and natural spaces, while offering all the conveniences one could wish for!

A deck by the dam and a saltwater pool, as well as the strategically-placed hammocks invite the guests to relax amidst a tranquil setting. Every element of this guesthouse has been crafted to create a soothing and natural experience.

Bloomestate breakfasts have become famous over the years and lunches, small platters and dinners are available on request. For restaurant options, Calvin and Cheré can recommend local specialities at one of Swellendam’s many restaurants, which include the anything from fine dining, to the “simple & delicious”.

SUSTAINABLE ENERGY – To help sustain both the estate and the surrounding natural beauty of the region, Bloomestate strive to use as many locally-made or Fair-Trade products as possible. They serve local fruits and organic vegetables, make jams from the many different fruit trees growing on their estate, use energy-efficient lighting and bio-degradable cleaning products and guest room amenities. The hot water is solar-heated and waste is composted.

Experience & Activities

Enjoy a pampering at the estate’s day spa, or explore the gastronomic highlights of the region. Wine lovers will be directed to Bonnievale and the Robertson Wine Valley. This scenic and flower-rich region is one of South Africa’s premium wine destinations and is only a 20-minute drive away. You will find over 50 famous and friendly wine houses, including Van Loveren, Springfield, De Wetshof, Bon Courage and Graham Beck. With a choice of gastronomic lunch spots along the way, the route makes for the perfect day or half-day trip.

For the more adventurous, enjoy whale watching trips (seasonal) or explore the meandering trails of the Langeberg Mountain Range, or explore the nature and wildlife of Marloth and De Hoop Nature Reserves, or the Bontebok Nationalpark.

Each of the seven garden rooms has a spacious bathroom, walk-in shower, bath, a private terrace and calming garden views.

  • Luxury Garden Rooms – Bright and spacious, the luxury garden rooms have French doors opening on to a private patio and unobstructed views over the garden and surrounding mountains.
